Jess graduated with an honours degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Melbourne. In 2003, she was awarded the McGraw-Hill Australia Early Childhood Award.
In 2006, Jess was employed by the Canadian International School Singapore and began work at Schoolhouse by the Bay. During her four years as a preschool teacher there, she took up the role of Creative Arts Specialist teacher. She designed her own Creative Drama and Visual Arts programmes for children aged 3-6. In 2009, Jess earned her Certificate of Educational Studies – Speech & Drama awarded by College of Teachers, UK-with Distinction.

Bringing her passion for the Creative Arts and love for the Reggio Approach back home to Johor Bahru, Malaysia in 2012 by establishing ‘Forest of Stars: A Creative Space for Kids’, Ms Jess was also part of the 2017 international study group at the world-renowned Loris Malaguzzi Centre in Italy, birthplace of the Reggio Emilia approach. Her vision: to HONOUR CHILDHOOD by creating a space for children to express themselves freely.
